| Class Focus:
ESL means "English as a Second Language". Students
who have ESL support can be new to Australia and are just learning
English, or have been here for 2 or more years and need extra assistance
with the reading and writing needs of Academic English. |
| Favourite
Subjects: ESL Teachers work with classroom
teachers. However our focus is on learning the English language. We
can do this through Maths, Creative Arts, HSIE, PDHPE or Science and
Technology topics. However Creative Arts would have to be our favourite
subjects.

| Class Events:
ESL students are encouraged to attend their
mainstream class events and excursions. The topics taught in ESL classes
aim to compliment the children's mainstream class program. |
| General
information about KRC: Most ESL Students
at Tyalla are Humanitarian Refugee Immigrants. Often, they have little
formal schooling but can speak, in some cases, up to 6 other languages.
They are very keen to add English to that list and show their classmates
just how clever they are!
